PhotoShop does have the power and I have use many graphic editors. Just starting off with it can scare the Sh#t out of you for it has many commands. Would you beleive in the 80s I use AutoCad to do most of my Graphics.

(not to the point) If anyone needs help with PhotoShop or just graphics itstelf just ask???

I can call myself a 'semi' guru. I'm more of a digital designer guy than a programmer, although I love playing with code especially with phpdig. Photoshop should be used by anyone who takes their graphics seriously.

Can I ask about Photoimpact?

how do they compare... or don't they

I only use it for resizing touchups and the occasional fancy text

should I stck to photoimpact 5 or look at getting a copy of photoshop (Secondhand I couldnt afford new)
