install - how ?

I have downloaded the zipped package but there are no directions on what to do next (for dummies).
I unzipped it and uploaded it to my webspace, but does it matter which folder ?
Then what ?
run admin/install.php
user name and password ?
From where ?
admin admin
"Can't connect to database
Verify connection datas. "

When all else fails, read the instructions,
but where are they ?
This could be so much easier.
