Reindex without cron job?
Hi!
Could you please tell me if phpDig define('LIMIT_DAYS',4); will reindex all the urls in the db after 4 days all by itself? My host doesn't offer crontab or SSH access. If not, how can I reindex? Thanks! Last edited by ark2424; 12-07-2004 at 04:34 AM. |

No, setting define('LIMIT_DAYS',X); will not make PhpDig reindex by itself. The LIMIT_DAYS is the number of days before a page is reindexed, not a setting to get PhpDig to auto reindex. To reindex, you can use the admin panel via the browser.

help I'm confused
I am using 1.8.4. I tried a few different things and cant seem to get it to reindex all the sites from the browser. How do you do that? possibly I have been up to late setting it up to figure it out. Any input would be great.
I actually had know idea that the define('LIMIT_DAYS',X) didn't reindex sites on it's own, My understanding was that if I set it to 7 days then it reindexes the whole site in 7 days and able to find new links as well. |

To reindex one or multiple sites from the browser using PhpDig 1.8.4 just place one link per line in the textbox. You don't have to place one link for every page, just the main link to the site, though depending on what you want to do, you might find that placing links to various pages within a site, and indexing with search depth and links per both to zero might be faster. Note that update is meant to update what is already there, and that LIMIT_DAYS, META revisit-after tags, excluded pages, or a robots.txt file may affect a reindex. Oh, and remember that some browsers might timeout before all the output shows onscreen.
