Arrow Fix timeouts at fgets()

Well, since slintz seems to have disappeared I guess it's my turn to take up the flag...

http://www.phpdig.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1166

I'm linking that thread in this forum as a polite request that someone modifiy PHP so that this problem is fixed. slintz sent me two files, one that lets you see if you have the problem and one that is a semi-fix, but I couldn't get the fix to work and my PHP skills aren't strong enough yet to allow me to tackle this problem alone.

I would really appreciate if someone could look into this a bit more. I can either post those two files here or PM/e-mail them to anyone who would like to see them (actually, one is too big for PM). This means a lot to me because I have yet to spider my site due to the fact that each page takes 15-20 seconds!

Thanks so much! If anyone needs more details, feel free to contact me either in this post, through PM or at jjoneill [at] wisc [dot] edu

Thanks in advance!
