Indexing chinese websites

I'm using PHPDIG for a website in english and german language which is now available in chinese language too. Is it possible to index and search chinese (encoding GB2312) websites with PHPDIG?

You can check through the files in the locales folder, but I don't believe phpdig supports Chinese encoding.

EDIT: Check out PhpDig v.1.8.8 RC1+ for multibyte support.
