I have several sites spidered and indexed, but for some reason the temporary table never seems to shrink. Should it be reducing in size? If so, how and when does it happen?

Here is what I have in my database:
Hosts : 13472 Entries
Pages : 56298 Entries
Index : 6809830 Entries
Keywords : 391177 Entries
Temporary table : 553219 Entries
